Isn't there a two or three year waiting period to get admitted to Parkhouse?
NO, in fact there isn't any waiting list.
How long does it take to be admitted once a person has applied?
It really depends on the individual situation however admissions can occur quickly.
Do we offer short-term rehabilitation?
YES, we have a very comprehensive rehabilitation department which includes Physical Therapy , Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. Discharge of clients can occur once rehabilitation is achieved or at the discretion of the client or POA.
Does a person have to be on public assistance and give up all his or her assets to even apply?
NO, not at all. We accept Medicare, Medical Assistance and private funds if applicable. Individuals with assets less than $2400 are eligible for state Medical Assistance. Those clients who have over $2400 are welcome to apply. If admitted, they are responsible for paying the cost of care until they "spend down" their assets to the $2400 limit.
If one member of a married couple wants to apply for admissions, do they have to give up the house so that one spouse can qualify for Medical Assistance?
NO, the spouse of a resident can continue to hold on to his or her share of the income and to live in the couple's house without a lien being placed on their property.
Are there any residency requirements for admission to Parkhouse?
There is no residency requirement. Applications are accepted from any interested client living anywhere in the United States without regard to race, color, creed, gender, age, nationality, or political affiliation.
